When Learning Becomes Difficult: Emotional Challenges in Education
Learning can sometimes evoke strong emotions, making certain subjects or situations particularly challenging for students. Welcome to a seminar exploring what higher education students find emotionally difficult and how these challenges affect them, offering insights into how educators can better support their students.
Certain teaching situations and subject matter can be experienced by students as emotionally challenging. They may feel worry, anxiety, and fear. During the seminar, research will be presented on what students in higher education find emotionally challenging in different contexts and across various disciplines, and what they struggle with as a consequence of these challenges. The seminar will conclude with a discussion on how teachers and educational programmes can support students.
