Research

At the Department of Educational Sciences, research is pursued on subject didactics, school and education history, and the sociology of education, by fourteen doctoral students, ten licentiate students and two professors.

An educational sciences research environment has been built up since the Department of Educational Sciences was established in March 2011. The environment consists of the department’s professors, doctoral students and licentiate students with diverse specialisations in areas such as subject didactics, school and education history and the sociology of education. As a whole, research at the department shall:
  •   be marked by disciplinary breadth and in-depth scholarship;
  •   contribute to scholarly knowledge development in the teaching profession and teacher training;
  •   be characterised by relevance and a scholarly, critical approach.
The Department of Educational Sciences also coordinates research on educational sciences at Lund University. Among other things, a network has been created for educational sciences researchers at, or associated with, Lund University, consisting of around 100 researchers in the humanities, music, science, social sciences, medicine and engineering.
